West Ham want Dimitri Payet to repay a £1million loyalty bonus from the club before they rubber-stamp his departure to Marseille says Darren Lewis in the Daily Mirror.

Darren backs up ClaretandHugh story that the “initial deal for the playmaker has been agreed at £25m but will total around £30million with bonuses.”

Darren says: “The Hammers first want Payet – who has insisted his desire to leave is not about money – to prove as much by giving back the cash he was handed back in September. Should that happen he could to be presented as a Marseille player as quickly as tomorrow in France. The payment was made in October in a bid to appease Payet after he returned from his Euro2016 commitments with France unsettled and wanting to leave”

ClaretandHugh understand that the £1m bonus was in fact paid early in August before the September scheduled date on the request of the French man so he could settle historic tax affairs in France.
