Payet is not bigger than West Ham

They say no one man is bigger than the club, that was true of Bobby Moore, Paolo Di Canio and now Dimitri Payet.

In a strange way his departure may revitalise the team as Bilic appeared to build the team around Payet so when he didn’t turn up, the team didn’t seem to work.

For all his fantastic free kicks, goals, assists and chances last season there were still games he didn’t turn up for. True, he was always there for the big games but seemed less interested in the smaller games but the media and fans always appeared to over look that flaw while he was scoring and creating assists.

When the giant Payet shirt went up at London Stadium  at the start of the season many supporters raised an eyebrow claiming it was too soon to have him hang among the West Ham legends and those fans have now have been proved correct.

He gone from hero to zero in a day and will now be remembered in the minds of West Ham fans as disloyal at the end, mentioned in the same breathe as Paul Ince, Jermaine Defoe and Frank Lampard. West Ham fans have long memories and bear grudges for a very long time, just ask Paul Ince.

It is now time to move on, take down the giant Payet shirt in the stadium, stop singing the Payet song and remove the lyrics from the outside of the stadium and quickly sell off  any remaining Payet branded clothing and shirts in the club store as soon as possible.

West Ham existed before Payet and we will exist after Payet, we were not and are not a one man team!

No hard feelings, no bitterness but it is time to concentrate on players who are proud to wear the West Ham badge and will fight on the pitch for our great club.
