“But I love West Ham. We had a fantastic season and I can’t wait to play in the Olympic Stadium.

“I’m 100 per cent staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that.”

Just imagine what sort of encouragement that may be to players considering a move to the club right now or in the immediate future.

They really should be thinking that if this club is good enough for a player of Dimi’s quality then it is certainly good enough for them.

I have written several times that I had no doubt the genius midfielder would be at West Ham this season and for some time to come and the fabuous Frenchman has now put everything to bed.

I don’t think I’ve felt as comfortable ahead of a West Ham season for many years and this morning congratulate the club on landing one of the biggest bargains in theirs – or any club’s history.

And a huge well done to the manager who in developing a perfect relationship with his star man has displayed an object lesson in man management.
