West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to hunt for a solution to his left back problem position with a move more than possible in the winter transfer market.

No names have been mentioned but it is understood that neither Aaron Cresswell or Arthur Masuaku are necessarily seen as a long term solution.

Ironically, the team is well served on the other side of the back line with Zaba and Ryan Fredericks pushing for inclusion but Masuaku’s problems defensively, whilst heightened at Brighton, have been clear for months.

And this season despite some decent runs down the left, the final ball has been regularly missing thus throwing question marks over his role in the team.

Cresswell has been kept out of the team by the Frenchman’s presence which given the doubts surrounding the first choice shows the extent of the problem.

Now, whilst the club had no plans to sell in the winter,  CandH understands that a solution to the problem is rising up the manager’s agenda.

Two players coming out of contract at the end of the season are Manchester United’s Luke Shaw – whose wage demands would probably rule him out – and Arsenal’s 32 year old Nacho Monreal who could provide an emergency short term solution.
