Marko Arnautovic is likely to play second fiddle to Chicharito again tomorrow (Sat) but it’s a fate he understands and accepts.

Manuel Pellegrini has spoken specifically about the striker’s position to reporters and again dropped a heavy hint the Austrian will be on the bench when the action starts in Cardiff.

Despite his difficult circumstances, the 29 year old is apparently taking the position philosophically and creating no waves whatsoever around the club as a result.

The manager told reporters:“Marko is not playing, but he is also a player we need for our starting eleven.

“Marko is absolutely involved in his commitment, he understands that maybe this is what happened with his China move, also his injury, he is not starting in this moment but he must make the difference.

“He is an important player for us. “

These are good words to hear in circumstances where the player has slipped considerably in the fans’ favour as it shows a professionalism we would hope and expect.

With the team winning games he is not going to find it an easy call to slip straight back in and that’s as it should be with any player.

The difference between last season when the man became our relegation avoiding hero could not be greater for this year we have a vastly improved squad and nobody’s place is a given.

But with the boss explaining how Marko is approaching life it’s a thumbs up from me!
