Reports that Manuel Pellegrini received a £2million pay off in compensation have been dismissed by club insiders.

Claret and Hugh have been told that the negotiations are still in the hands of the lawyers and the manager would carry on receiving his normal salary payments until a  compensation package is agreed by both sides of legal representatives.

Club often carry on paying managers relieved of these duties until they land another manager role but at 66-years-old there is no guarantee the Chilean will find work again.

Pellegrini earned a manager’s salary of £8m per year with another £2m per year being shared by his backroom team who were who also dismissed.

Pellegrini is understood to have taken personal responsibility for his failure in charge of West Ham leading to his dismissal but whether this translates into accepting a lower financial compensation package in lieu of the remaining 18 months of his contract remains to be seen.
