Pellegrini coy over any more transfer business

Manuel Pellegrini was in no mood to tell reporters his plans before the transfer window ends on Thursday, asked at yesterday’s post-match press conference he replied: “The transfer window is open until Thursday, anything can happen and we will see what happens.”

However, earlier in the press conference he spoke of a role that Hernandez or Antonio can play upfront if Haller is not available.  Pellegrini said:  “Javier is absolutely a box player, Haller is one that works more in the space without the ball. We have Michail Antonio too plays that position. We have different options. When you play with a striker like Javier and his goals you just have to make the most amount of chances in the box and he will score. With Sebastien he works a lot and will score so I am happy with both of them.”

Claret and Hugh continues to understand there is room for one more squad player unless anyone else departs in the next four days and that addition is likely to be a centre back with Aaron Long reported to be one candidate should he be able to obtain a work permit.

The chances of another striker or a defensive midfielder before Thursday seem unlikley.
