Pellegrini dubbed “an empty tube of toothpaste!”

Mark Lawrenson has likened Manuel Pellegrini to an “empty tube of toothpaste” before deciding to take a swing at the club for what he describes “leaking” what in reality is pretty obvious speculation.

Before getting into it let’s realise that when a manager is under pressure to the extent of the Chilean it doesn’t actually need anyone to leak the fact that he could be sacked if things don’t improve – really rather obvious Lawro!

The names of such as David Moyes and Chris Hughton – along with fans favourite Eddie Howe – have been regularly speculated by pundits and fans alike.

There’s a big difference between so called leaks and an obvious ituation causing it with names being mentioned  – David Moyes in particular given he has managed at the club previously.

It probably makes a pleasant change for a bloke who is paid to bring match predictions to allow himself the luxury of a bash here and there of course but – given the nature of his job – probably unnecessary.

Commenting on Saturday night’s game he says: “I don’t think West Ham have helped their manager Manuel Pellegrini with the noises that have been coming out of the club.

Whoever is feeding stories to the media seems to be trying to make everyone aware that Pellegrini’s future is being discussed, because he is not doing very well – so don’t be surprised if he is not here next Sunday.

You don’t need to say any of that, because it is obvious he is under pressure.

It just feels like Pellegrini is an empty tube of toothpaste – they are just squeezing the last bits out of him at the moment, and it won’t be long until he is done.

While West Ham slide down the table, Saints have been heading in the opposite direction with a run of seven points from their past four games.

They were unlucky to lose to Newcastle last time out and they have looked like a different team in recent weeks. Danny Ings cannot stop scoring at the moment, which is handy for them.

Prediction: 2-1
