Premier League club chairmen will today have a rethink on the £14.95 charge inflicted on fans whose matches were not included in original broadcasting schedules on Sky and Tv.

The fee was discussed at the last chairmen’ meeting without resolution but today supporters will be looking for a change of direction from them

And given that during the last lockdown all matches were shown for free there’s a strong argument to say that for the month lockdown 2 which started today, the same situation should exist.

However, that is probably too much to expect and it seems more likely that the fee could be cut to £9.95 or £7.50.

Fans would probably be happy with the latter although it’s unlikely it will stop many carrying on by instead giving such a price to football club related food banks.

The reaction has obviously shaken clubs and broadcasters and a reduction seems their only way forward if they wish to reap any sort of reward as a result of today’s virtual meeting.
