Players have power to save or kill their clubs

The two between the PFA, players and the club is going on and on with – amazingly – no end in sight!

Barcelona’s players have shown the way with a 70 per cent pay cut aimed at helping save the club that employs them whilst in the Premier League many players seem determined to put the 30 per cent cut – they MAY accept – into charity.

In this blog a CandH follower calling himself simply Dave discusses the situation and comes to a worrying conclusion suggesting that with players taking 80 percent of their club’s revenue, they have the power to save the clubs or to kill the clubs..

I think the players and PFA are burying their heads in the sand.

I work for a fairly big firm but everyone has just taken a 25 percent pay cut and everyone was due bonuses but they have been scrapped with the promise that if we get back up and running before July then hopefully we get something next year.

Funnily enough the taxman would take his share, but now the taxman gets nothing. Is that a consideration? No it’s about making sure we have jobs going forward!

But when we come out the other side we will have jobs and the taxman/ NHS will get what is due down the line.
These footballers need to realise that if they haven’t got a club to go back to if they push them down the path of going bust them what’s the point of all this.

They will be last in the line of creditors and their next contracts will be fractions of what they currently get.
Many owners G&S included will be losing fortunes on their other businesses like Gold on his retail shops etc so we can’t guarantee they will be around to bail the clubs out.

The players take 80 percent of clubs revenue, so they have the power to save  or to kill the clubs.
Football fans have long memories and it will come out who are the good and bad in all this.

If our players don’t do the right thing they won’t be seeing my support and most of my friends who go to West Ham and other premier league clubs feel the same.

We could be watching the Premier League kill itself through the greed on which it was built.
