Trouble flared halfway down the Trevor Brooking Stand behind the Irons goal towards the end of tonight’s game with segregation seemingly at the bottom of the problem.

Fans met on the walkways and both police in riot gear and stewards were involved in calming things down as they looked to spill into serious trouble.

They did a good job but the scenes were unsavoury and questions will be asked as a reult of went went off.

Fans were seen throwing objects and a couple of chairs are also thought to have been used as missiles.

Police helicopters were circling the area during and after the game where both clubs had been at pains to issue statements asking their fans to behave themselves.

We will try to bring you more on this story as reports come in.
