Police name those arrested over football troubles

The Metropolitan Police have released details of those arrested after Wednesday night’s trouble outside the West Ham v Chelsea match. The police have reduced the number arrested from seven to six and named three of those already charged. Three of the six were Chelsea fans while the other three were West Ham fans. Five arrests were made outside the stadium with one arrest inside the London Stadium.

The Police update says:

There were six arrests following disorder during the West Ham United v Chelsea match on Wednesday, 26 October. Three of those arrested have been charged:

[A] James Colin Smith, 36 (02.10.80) of Monklands, Letchworth Garden City has been charged with common assault, assault on police and possession of class A drugs – he has been bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on 25 November.

[C] Nicholas Greenway, 51 (18.12.64) of Eversleigh Road, SW11 has been charged with threatening behaviour under section 4 of the Public Order Act 1986 – he has been bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on 11 November.

[E] Michael Parker, 27 (07.01.89) of Alexandra Road, Mitcham has been charged with throwing missiles contrary to section 2 of the Football Offences Act 1991 – he has been bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on 11 November.

Three other people were arrested:

[B] A man, aged 27, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly – he has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in mid-December.

[D] A man, aged 25, was arrested on suspicion of threatening behaviour – he has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in early January 2017.

[F] A man, aged 40, was arrested on suspicion of assault on police and threatening behaviour – he has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date later in November.

Enquiries continue.
