The Premier League face a legal minefield unless fixtures are fulfiled in the normal way with supporters present at home grounds.

The prospect of finishing the domestic league normally appears to be a non-starter with games behind closed doors the only viable options. Variation to themes includes playing behind closed doors at neutral grounds.

Alternately the Premier League could decide final league possessions on a Points Per Game (PPG) model either a straight average on games played or a combined total of home and away PPG.

The last resort is to declare the season null and void which is exactly what the Dutch league did last week,

Dutch clubs are already threatening legal action which could see a U-turn in Holland, the same situation exists in Belgium who have yet to ratify their decision after declaring their season null and void.

Today the French cancelled their remaining fixtures for Ligue 1 and 2 but have yet to announce how relation, promotions, champions and qualification to Europe will be decided.

The Premier League face the same dilemma with whichever club is disadvantaged by their decision likely to sue which could drag on years.

Club owners relegated from the top flight league will full they have nothing to lose and will threaten legal action to ensure they get maximum compensation.

We could see the Premier League put aside millions in a compensation fund to try to settle these claims out of court.

There is one thing that is not in doubt, a lot of lawyers will make a lot of money out of this complex situation.
