Hammers hero Billy Bonds has told ClaretandHugh of his great pride in seeing a mural of himself and Trevor Brooking appearing as a Boleyn memorial.

The work of art on the side of fish and chip shop off Barking road depicts Bonzo and Trevor Brooking.

The creation is the work of Hertfordshire based  West Ham supporting artist David “Gnasher” Nash who founded Gnashers Murals. The art was commissioned by Vik Taak who works for Newham Council as a Utilities project officer and is part of a Newham street art project. The mural was funded by Mick’s Furniture Discount. Vik explained to ClaretandHugh the mural took a year to plan and get approval.

And on learning of the mural from ClaretandHugh today Bonzo declared: “That is incredible. I’m very proud and humbled to have become such a figure in the minds of West Ham supporters.”

Sir Trevor was unavailable for comment.
