BBC and Sky pundits must have been looking at the latest football betting tips as they predict that West Ham will win this weekend, both going for a 2-1 home win at the London Stadium.

Mark Lawrenson told the BBC website: “West Ham got beaten by Sheffield United last week, although they did have chances. What would have been a late equaliser was disallowed for handball, because those are the laws of game – it is a rubbish law, but you have got to stick to them.

I still think David Moyes has had positive start to his return as Hammers boss, and the same obviously goes for Carlo Ancelotti at Everton – apart from when they went to Liverpool in the FA Cup, they have been good.

I think this will be tight, and West Ham will be happy to keep it that way.

Moyes is not going to play open, expansive football because he doesn’t know some of his players yet, and they have not been playing well – you have got to understand that his priority will be to make it difficult for teams to play against them.”

Charlie Nicholas told the Sky website “What a cracking game. David Moyes, who I thought would get the Everton job, comes up against his old club once more. I have to be honest; I thought Everton fans were tremendously cruel to Moyes.

He walks in the door at West Ham and everyone wonders how he will get on. He does have to prove a point and keep West Ham alive, but I did the Everton match and they only just deserved to win against Brighton. In the end, they were panicking.

Carlo Ancelotti has picked up a couple of decent results but the scar and embarrassment of losing to Liverpool’s schoolboys still lingers. He will want to prove a point to Everton fans and really, he believes he should be back there. It looked as though it should have been his job, but they went with the fabulous Carlo Ancelotti and he is a different man.

West Ham will be aggressive and get in their face. Everton are a talented bunch and they are an inconsistent bunch. I am going for narrow scorelines this weekend”

Claret and Hugh say:  We are more than happy to go along with the pundits with the 2-1 home win prediction this week. Bookies have West Ham at odds of 19/10 for a home win, 5/2 for the draw and 11/8 for the loss. You can get odds of up to 11/1 for the 2-1 scoreline that the pundits suggest.
