EXCLUSIVE: Randolph plotting Cherries ‘revenge’

Goalkeeper Darren Randolph is hoping for a change in his luck if he’s selected to play for the Irons against newly promoted Bournemouth on Saturday.

For Randolph – understudy to Adrian – has conceded a staggering 16 goals against the Cherries in just three games, while he was plying his trade for Birmingham City. The unwelcome record included picking the ball out of the back of the net EIGHT TIMES in one Championship clash last season!.

Randolph’s awful record run started in March last year, when he let in four goals for the Blues during their 4-2 defeat. Six months later, he was on the receiving end of the 8-0 humiliation at St Andrews. And then, as the south Coast side’s promotion charge was in full swing, the keeper let in another four at Dean Court.

So, while Randolph will be delighted to get another Premier League appearance under his belt should Adrian’s appeal against his red card fail, the Hammers stopper will also have mixed emotions about facing his bogey team yet again.

Records have to be broken sometime – and let’s hope it happens for Randolph this weekend.

Fingers crossed!
