Relegation could cost David Moyes big

Relegation for West Ham would cost David Moyes millions. His 18 month contract is reported to be heavily incentivised on West Ham’s survival in the Premier League.

A Daily Mail report on New Years Eve last year suggested is basic wage is just £1m for his first six months in charge with a further £2 million basic wage for his final twelve months in charge.  His package is said to include a £2 million survival bonus meaning he will pocket another £2 million this season for keeping the Hammers in the Premier League.

While there is no relegation or particular exit clause for the 56-year-old manager he would lose the chance of a £2 million bonus in the Championship next season if the Hammers are relegated meaning it could cost the owners as little as £2 million to buy him out of his remaining contract should they want to dispense with his services in the summer.
