West Ham are being linked with a move for AC Milan star midfielder Franck Kessie although with Chelsea and Arsenal also in a race for the player we must look third best.

Calciomercato are reporting that the player looks set for a move the Premier League in a deal which would almost certainly to be worth over £50 million.

Wolves apparently came close to a £35 m deal for the Ivory Coast international last year and West Ham are said to be quietly confident they can get a move over the line despite their lack of European football.

ClaretandHugh says: This one sounds a proper flier which is hardly worth checking out. On the basis that Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be involved it’s impossible to think any other way. The story has one big fault and it is that our priority this summer will be up front where nether Hernandez, Carroll or Perez look of any consequence whatsoever and with our midfield looking good with the return of Manuel Lanzini and the extension to Samir Nasri’s short term deal to be triggered and the imperious Declan Rice it’s not an area that is causing great concern and the idea that we have £50 million to spend shows a serious misunderstanding of foreign media outlets as to where this club is placed. I have no doubt that Pedro Obiang will be on his way this summer but I don’t think he will be replaced by a player who will cost the sort of dough being quoted here. The big priority is up front so I think we can treat this one very seriously.
