West Ham are still working on a new contract for defender Vladimir Coufal this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth claims that there is a gap in terms  of expectations between the two parties, something that has left Coufal’s camp disappointed. The Czech Republic international has an option for two extra years on his current deal which runs to 2023.

Sheth shared the update on his personal Twitter account this afternoon, with Hammers fans surely set to be fuming.

“West Ham United continue talks with Vladimir Coufal’s reps over an improved contract,” he wrote.

“Gap in terms – Coufal’s camp disappointed with what’s being offered. Current deal up in summer 2023 with the option for 2 more years. WHU recognise his performances deserve rewards.”

The Czech right back  joined from Slavia Prague for £5.4m in October last year on a three year deal.

The 28-year-old has been a roaring success in the Premier League since his move and has been first choice right back since becoming a Hammer.
