Everton have made a late attempt to hijack West Ham’s bid for Amadou Onana, according to The Guardian.

The report claims that the Merseyside club have matched the Irons’ bid, which is worth around £33.5m, and are making a real attempt to bring him to Goodison Park.

Onana

We have reported that the Hammers have had their bid for Onana accepted but there has yet to be an agreement over personal terms.

The Guardian claims the Belgium international would prefer a move to Everton, but it is unclear whether the Toffees will be able to reach an agreement over wages.

Boss Frank Lampard is said to want to sign two new midfielders and has targeted Onana as a priority addition.

The Hammers have been chasing the player throughout the summer, with boss David Moyes keen to bolster his midfield further after securing the signing of Flynn Downes.

Everton are flush from the sale of Richarlison to Spurs for a fee of around £60m.
