West Ham has been linked in the chase for former Hammer Mohamed Diame who now plays for Newcastle. The midfielder contract is due to end next month and he will be available on a free transfer.

According to Turkish daily Sabah, both Crystal Palace and West Ham are chasing the Senegalese, but Fenerbahce have an advantage over the Premier League pair. It is reported that Fenerbahce’s offer is superior to those on the table from Crystal Palace and West Ham. The 31-year-old started on Sunday in Newcastle’s final Premier League game of the season and clocked up all 90 minutes in an impressive 4-0 win at Fulham for the Magpies.

In 2014 while still at West Ham Diame was quoted in the French Media as wanting a move to a top-six premier league club.  Diame played 75 times for the Hammers scoring 7 goals. He joined West Ham on a free transfer in June 2012 after leaving Wigan.  He later moved to Hull in 2014 for £3.5m
