Report: Hammers are favourites to sign Barcelona defender

West Ham have been touted as favourites to sign £18m Barcelona defender Marlon Santos reports in Spain claim.

The Brazilian spent this season on-loan in France with Nice and is now a summer target for the Hammers.

Mundo Deportivo says despite English media sources claiming interest from Leicester City, Barca insiders insist West Ham are now close to signing Marlon.

Barca and West Ham are currently thrashing out terms over a permanent deal for the 22 year-old the report claims.

Marlon is on a two-season long loan to OGC Nice and has impressed in his first campaign in Ligue 1. The player though, could be set to cut his loan deal short, if a chance of a permanent move presents itself.
