Greek radio station Sport24 Radio 103.3 has reported that Olympiakos FC has received a 10 million Euros (£8.8m) proposal from West Ham for their captain Kostas Fortounis

The 26-year-old joined the Greek team from  German third-tier club FC Kaiserslautern in 2014 for £360,000. The midfielder has started 102 times for Olympiakos scoring 53 goals with a further 28 substitute appearances.

He scored two goals against Burnley in the Europa league last August knocking them out of the competition.

Director of football Mario Husillos was Sporting Director at Olympiakos in 2017 while he took a brief break from his time at Malaga and the report suggests he is leading the bid using his contacts at his old club.

The Olympiacos captain, an attacking midfielder, has 15 goals and 15 assists to his name from 39 games in all competitions last season and has been scouted by City, Roma, Fenerbahce, Toulouse and Lyon recently.

Last month Greek sports website SDNA claim the 26-year-old’s agent, Paul Koutsoliakos, is due to travel to England for talks with an English club which they believed to be Norwich.

Fortounis has won the title three times with Olympiacos, Fortounis has 41 caps for Greece, scoring six goals, but will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer so his club could be forced to accept a lower fee.
