West Ham are today reported to be weighing up a shock January move for Watford’s Troy Deeney.

The Hammers have Watford skipper Deeney in their sights as they renew their attempts to land a big-money front man.

After looking abroad throughout the summer it’s now being widely reported that home grown Deeney is a priority target for the Irons.

Should the interest be firmed up and with the money to support it Watford will be on the back foot to keep the 28 year old.

They managed to fend off Leicester in the summer after the champions went to £25m for Deeney, who scored 13 Premier League goals last season.

Watford rewarded Deeney, who has netted 99 goals in 275 appearances since joining in 2010, with a new five-year deal worth around £50,000 a week.

His new contract further ensures Deeney won’t come cheap but Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is prepared to splash the cash to solve his problems up front.
