Report: Hammers have keen interest in Brazilian playmaker

A report from France claims West Ham are taking a keen interest in São Paulo’s Brazilian attacking midfielder Igor Gomes.

HommeDuMatch.Fr claims the midfielder was of interest to Real Madrid a year ago, the 22-year-old plays in the Brazilian championship and is valued at 15 million Euros (£12.8m)

Other previous reports suggest the Sao Paulo midfielder Igor Gomes is ready for a move to Europe this summer with claims that Liverpool held talks with the so-called ‘new Kaka’ in 2020 according to his agent Wagner Ribeiro.

Due to his galloping stride, gangly frame and fancy footwork, Gomes has been likened to the legendary Johan Cryuff and 2006 Ballon D’Or winner Kaka. however, his agent Ribeiro believes his highly-rated client has more in common with Manchester City’s creative playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

According to Esporte Interativo, Liverpool opened talks with Gomes in June last year and may renew their interest if Gini Wijnaldum leaves.
