Turkish reporter Atakan Kurt has claimed West Ham made a failed bid to sign Besiktas striker Cyle Larin for €15 million

Larin has scored 15 goals in all competitions for Besiktas this season which reportedly attracted interest from West Ham.

The Turkish journalist says the Hammers lodged a £13.2m offer to sign the player during January but the Turkish Super Lig side rejected the the approach and told them to come back and discuss it again in the summer.

The journalist also claims the offer was also turned down by the player himself who did not want the move at this stage.

The 6 foot 2 striker has attracted praise from a number of clubs in Europe who are tracking his progress.

After playing college soccer for the Connecticut Huskies, Larin was the first pick of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, joining Orlando City. In his first MLS season, he broke the record for most goals by a rookie, scoring 17 in 27 games and earning the MLS Rookie of the Year Award. He totalled 89 games and 44 goals for Orlando before moving to Beşiktaş for a small fee of just £1.67m in January 2018. He is a full international for Canada since 2014, he represented the nation at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2015, 2017 and 2019.
