Could a second centre back be on his way West Ham in addition to Craig Dawson?

Norwegian journalist Jonas Giæver suggests that central defender Fredrik Alves Ibsen could join West Ham but not until the January transfer window.

Jonas says ‘Silkeborg announced yesterday that they are negotiating a sale for central defender Fredrik Alves Ibsen with an unnamed club. I’m being informed that club the is West Ham. Alves would not move to London before the January transfer window if it goes through’

The 20-year-old from Denmark with a  Brazilian background was spotted by agent and taken to Coritiba Foot Ball Club as 15-year-old.

After two years in Brazil Alves returned to his native Denmark joining Silkeborg IF.

Initially joining the Academy on 1 one year training contract in the summer of 2018 Alves went on to sign a five-year contract in June 2019 contracting him until 2024.

Alves got his official debut for Silkeborg in a Danish Cup game against Næstved BK in September 2o18 and has been an ever-present force in defence since then helping the team promotion to the Danish Superliga which also gained him a spot on the Danish U-20 national team.

With Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid both 32 years of age while Craig Dawson is 30 and Fabian Balbuena 29 it would make some sense to be on the lookout for a young centre back to partner the 23-year-old Issa Diop in the future.

The young defender follows West Ham on Instagram if you can read anything into that!?
