West Ham are interested in Gillingham defender Jack Tucker, according to a report from The Sun, with the Hammers’ scout raving about the 20-year-old.

Tucker has made 26 league appearances for the League One side with the majority of those appearances as a centre-back, but he has also been deployed in the right-back position on a small number of occasions where he is said to be equally comfortable.

The tabloid claims that the Gills tied Tucker down to a new deal recently. But they would be prepared to let him leave at the right price.

The Sun suggests that Aston Villa have also been tracking Tucker throughout the season.  The Gills revealed they turned down an offer from a Championship club in December last year without revealing the club in question or the price offered later offering Tucker a new deal for what they described as a ‘few more years’ as his two deal was due to expire in the Summer of 2020.  Tucker joined Gillingham’s youth set up as a seven-year-old from his hometown club Whitstable Town. He has spent time on loan at Greenwich Borough and Hastings FC  before breaking through to the Gills first team.
