Callum Wilson is now the Hammers’ No1 transfer target, if you choose to believe what is reported by the Sun newspaper

The report says have been long-term admirers of the ex-Coventry star, who has been a consistent goalscorer when fully fit in the last four years since promotion in Eddie Howe’s team.

He battled back from two serious knee injuries to earn his first England caps last season when Gareth Southgate rewarded his form with a call-up.

Now the Bournemouth boss will have the final say on whether Wilson would be allowed to leave the Vitality Stadium.

With three years left on his current deal, he is valued at £35m although a deal is likely to rest on Bournemouth getting offered the right package to tempt them into selling.

Claret and Hugh says: Everyone is second-guessing and the Sun has no way of knowing if Callum Wilson is the No.1 transfer target for Manuel Pellegrini. Director of football, Mario Husillos is in charge of negotiations, a man who doesn’t speak to the press or leak information out to others.  It would be wrong to say West Ham have given up on Maxi Gomez at this stage and we have been previously told that the Hammers would not do so until he has actually committed himself to another outfit or made it clear he doesn’t want to join the Hammers. That hasn’t happened to our knowledge.  Pellegrini and Husillos is likely to have an extended list of striker targets and it wouldn’t surprise me if Wilson is on it somewhere but where he may or may not stand in any pecking order is impossible to know or indeed whether £35m would offer value for money for the 27-year-old.
