Report: Irons eyeing young defender

West Ham want to sign FC Zurich defender Becir Omeragic, according to a new report.

TuttoMercatoWeb claims that the Hammers are one of the clubs interested in doing a deal for the 20-year-old.

He is a Switzerland U21 international with four caps and has already made 83 appearances for the club, having made a significant first-team breakthrough.

The report in Italy mainly focuses on the fact that Torino are interested in Omeragic, seeing him as a potential replacement for Gleison Bremer, who could leave this summer.

AC Milan were also linked in January and there is said to be rival interest from the Irons, who are said to have opened talks with the Swiss club over a potential deal.

There’s no indication as to how much Omeragic would cost, but he has a contract until 2023 and is valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt.

The Hammers do want to strengthen their backline this summer and the club are continuing to pursue a deal for Rennes’ Nayef Aguerd.
