Jack Wilshere’s season may well be over after just 339 minutes of match action.

According to the Mail the four games in which he has been involved may be it as far as the £100k a week midfielder is concerned.

He has still not properly recovered from surgery he received to correct a problem in his ankle back in September and his chances of being involved any further are decreasing dramatically.

According to the Mail the “optimistic” forecast for a return would be between six and eight weeks butthat fears are growing it’s over for the season.

ClaretandHugh says: “There is absolutely no doubt that Jack Wilshere on a three year deal was a huge mistake. Manuel Pellegrini has made very few since arriving at the club but this was a decision which will haunt him. Wilshere’s name had been linked with the Hammers for months before the new manager finally gave the thumbs up to the deal and it was one that was greeted with big doubts among the fans and club insiders who had wanted to offer just one year at the very best. I guess it seemed a reasonable gamble to the boss as Wilshere had completed over 30 games for Arsenal the previous season but as is the case when it comes to the Hammers and injuries, the wheels have now fallen off in a big way. Jack has everybody’s sympathy including ours and we really hope he can make a full recovery but we have to say it was far too big a risk to complete this deal and with Nasri and Lanzini  in the squad we believe his chances would be limited anyway when both are fully fit.,
