West Ham have set their sights on Manchester United’s Scott McTominay as the permanent replacement for Declan Rice, according to reports emerging today.

Declan is poised to leave The Hammers this summer with Arsenal, Man U and Chelsea all rumoured to be interested. The Irons captain’s desire to leave is an open secret but West Ham have struggled to find a replacement for Rice who is valued at £100m.

In yesterdays game against Everton, Rice came up against Amadou Onana who was David Moyes first choice to fill the void. Another candidate is Brighton’s Moisés Caicedo, but the Hammers appear to have been priced out of a move.

According to ExWHUEmployee, the Hammers board believe they’ve found the answer to the Rice conundrum in the form of Manchester United’s Scott McTominay. The Scotland international has been a key member of the first team setup in recent seasons but has found himself out of favour this season.

Despite McTominay’s lack of football, Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag is insistent that the midfielder has a crucial role to play in the second half of the season.

Whilst I believe the player is decent enough I find the rumour underwhelming, however I can see the allure for David Moyes, who has a history of plundering Old Trafford for their reserves.
