Report: Sakho hands in transfer request

Sky Sports are claiming that Diafra Sakho has handed in a transfer request at West Ham. The striker was the subject of a failed bid from Sunderland last month. That bid was made up of a ridiculously low basic fee plus add-ons to bring it closer to the club’s valuation. One condition was that the striker needed to play at least 30 games per season.

Sam Allardyce brought the Senegal international to West Ham from Metz in 2014 when he was in charge of the Hammers. The 26-year-old joined on a four-year contract costing the Hammers an initial £3.5m transfer fee which has since risen £4.25m with add-ons. He has scored 15 goals in 43 Premier League matches for the club.

Sakho joined West Ham on low wages of £15,000 per week which have since risen to £27,000 per week but that still remains low by Premier League standards. West Brom are also reportedly interested in Sakho although the figure of  a possible £16.5m bid quoted by the media yesterday seem way off the mark.

Sakho complained of a sickness bug and stayed in the UK when the rest of the West Ham squad flew to the US for their pre-season tour at the weekend. We will endeavour to check out whether the claims he has handed transfer request are true today.
