Report: Tomkins to work with under-privileged kids

James Tomkins is set for a spell coaching under-privileged kids after being found guilty of kicking a policeman

West Ham can only fine the defender two weeks’ wages — £60,000 — after his conviction.

But Hammers top brass are reportedly furious and want him to do community work as a further punishment.

Tomkins, 25, was fined £3,500 by magistrates on Monday after admitting assaulting a police officer, obstructing a constable and being drunk and disorderly during the incident at the Sugar Hut nightclub in Essex in December.

Now, according to The Sun, however, the central defender will be fined and forced to work with the Community Department in coaching under-privileged kids.

They quote a source as saying: “He has responsibilities as a player and representative of the club.”

Tomkins was also ordered to pay £3,785 costs and £200 to the police officer he booted.
