A report from Radio Catalunya claims West Ham boss David Moyes could sign Barcelona right-back Moussa Wague for under £9 million this summer.

The Hammers initially lodged their interest in the Barcelona right-back in January, but a loan deal failed to materialise as the Senegal international opted for a move to French side Nice.

The 21-year-old Barca-loanee managed just five appearances for Nice prior to the cancellation of Ligue 1 due to the coronavirus outbreak, and the French side are said to have passed on the opportunity to exercise their right to buy the youngster. Barcelona are understood to be open to a loan deal or a permanent one if the right price can be negotiated.

Wague is now back in his native Senegal and awaiting news on where he will be next season, with the Catalan club considering his future.

Wague joined the Blaugrana in the summer of 2018 in a move worth in the region of €5m from Belgian club Eupen and spent last season in the Barcelona’s B team.

Valued at €20m last winter he could be available at half that sum this summer.

His age, position and price certainly match the kind of player Moyes is looking to target after losing Pablo Zabaleta and Jeremy Ngakia.
