West Ham have reportedly made a £10m bid for Lorient forward Alexis Claude-Maurice, according to Sky Sports.

The player who turned 21 today has scored 14 goals and made 4 assists in 35 appearances for Lorient last season in Ligue 2 who finished sixth.

Two weeks ago Arsenal were linked with the France U20 international but the report suggests that it is now West Ham who have shown serious interest.

Lorient missed out on promotion and Claude-Maurice who has a contract with his club until June 2021 is expected to be allowed to leave to seek a higher level of football next season.  He has largely played out wide on the left for his club side, but some believe that, long term, his position will be through the middle.

West Ham may face competition from Ligue 1, with Lille eyeing him as a replacement for Nicolas Pepe. He has also been scouted by Arsenal , Manchester United , Liverpool, Norwich City and Bayern Munich – and Monaco also.
