Sky Sports are reporting this evening that West Ham have offered £20m plus £5m in extra’s for Nigeria’s Terem Moffi. The 23-year-old FC Lorient’s striker is the second-highest goalscorer in Ligue 1 this season, with only Kylian Mbappé scoring more.

Following The Hammers blunt attacking performance against Wolves in yesterdays Premier League clash it’s clear reinforcements are required.

Lorient have been in great form in the French league this season after they came 16th in the last term. They are currently seventh in the league at the halfway point, after Lille beat Troyes 5-1. Moffi scored Lorient’s only goal in a 3-1 defeat to Marseille yesterday.

How much truth there is to this report is unknown, but it’s certainly a strange strategy if the club are looking to dispense of David Moyes within the next week. I can only assume the approach has been made without too much involvement from the current manager.

As much as I believe new signings are necessary it may well be prudent to arm any new manager with funds rather than David Moyes who may only have one game remaining.
