A Manchester City fan has released a video on social media showing a fire extinguisher being set off in the Sir Trevor Brooking lower away concourse at half time. A steward can be seen wrestling with the fan on the video (shown below). The Man City fans claim they were barred from purchasing alcohol at half time at the Boleyn Ground yesterday. One senior steward told Claret and Hugh they heard over the radio that a steward was injured during the half-time incident. They said they were surprised there was no police at the game. We have been told that no police have been present at any home games this season except for in the CCTV control room.
After the final whistle was blown in the thrilling trouble flared up again in the Sir Trevor Brooking lower stand. One eye-witness claimed Man City fans crossed the divide between the two sets of fans. We understand the club have handed over CCTV footage to the police for review. The incident was quickly brought under control by stewards without police assistance and it seems like lots of shouting and pushing rather than fighting.
There were additional claims by West Ham fans that the club allowed Manchester City fan to leave the ground too early to mingle with home fans leaving the match. One fan has told us that Man City fans were again causing trouble at the Upton Park underground station queues trying to start altercations by trading abuse.
