Declan Rice has revealed that he would likely have left West Ham if it wasn’t for boss David Moyes.

The Hammers star has been in exceptional form this season and has been leading the club’s charge towards the top four.

The club are currently fifth in the Premier League table ahead of tomorrow’s clash with title-chasing Liverpool, who sit second and have lost just twice all season.

Declan has emerged as perhaps the best defensive midfielder in the world throughout the last couple of seasons, with his performances at Euro 2020 drawing particular attention as England reached the final.

The Hammers star has since been linked with a variety of moves, unsurprisingly, but Rice now says that he could have departed before Moyes actually returned to the club, given that he was first playing as a centre-back under his management.

After winning the Player of the Year at the London Football Awards, the star said, as per The Sun“The first spell I was very young and was learning my trade and playing centre-half.

“Then, it was funny because when he came back for the second spell he came over and said to me ‘you’ve got better, haven’t you?!’

“I looked at him and started laughing and from that moment on we’ve had such a good relationship.

“The confidence he puts into me is massive and means I can go out and perform when a manager believes in me like that.”

Rice added: “It’s good to be regarded in that way. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the manager.”
