Declan Rice appeared on the  TalkSPORT breakfast show on Monday following West Ham’s 2-1 win over Spurs and he couldn’t resist a cheeky question to radio host Ally McCoist.  “Can I just ask Ally something? How does it feel to celebrate 55 titles for the Rangers at the end of this season?”

McCoist is third in the all-time appearance table for Glasgow Rangers, having made 581 appearances for the club during his career.

McCoist replied jubilantly: “On you go Dec! You’ll do for me boy!”

Obviously, Rice is no fan of Celtic who are already 18 points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership table.

Rice will hope David Moyes will see the funny side as the manager played for Celtic between 1980 and 1983 where he won the Championship making 24 appearances.  Celtic fans were none too complimentary on social media about Rice’s on-air joke with McCoist.

McCoist couldn’t let Rice go without given the band a name, saying: “How about this for a name for your band, I’ve been thinking about it while we have been talking? Irons Maiden!”
