Sakho contract option revealed
The Senegalese striker signed a four-year deal in August 2014 after joining from Metz for an initial transfer fee of £3.5m on a basic wage of £15,000 per week. His wages were later improved as a reward for his form and that is where the two-year option was probably added.
The 27-year-old is now said to be on a basic wage of £33,000 a week with appearance bonuses recently raised to £30,000 for a start and £15,000 should he find himself on the bench.
The striker went to France in an attempt to force a move to Stade Rennes on deadline day and underwent a medical, but the deal fell through as the two clubs could not agree on a fee. He was out for most of the last season due to a recurring back injury making just four appearances without scoring for the Hammers.
Despite the existence of a two-year option West Ham are likely to listen to offers in January in excess of £12.5m.
