Sakho set for weekend run-out

Diafra Sakho is set to make his return to match action in a behind closed doors under 23s match against Spurs on Saturday.

Having rejoined the first team squad, but having yet to make an appearance, we understand that Slaven Bilic has given the nod to his involvement in the game.

And it’s hoped as a result that if he shows no ill effects from the run-out he may well feature on the bench in the opening game against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 13.

Sakho is reported “raring to go” and looking strong but the acid test will come when he gets involved in match action with Bilic hoping that he becomes a serious early option for inclusion in the side.

However, there is no signs of Andy Carroll being fit for action as he continues rehab work under the careful eye on Head of Medics Gary Lewin.
