Diafra Sakho is to resume first team training in February with a possible return by mid March.

David Gold told his twitter followers in the last few hours confirming: “Spoke to Diafra today he’s working hard on his rehab and is looking forward to resuming training. Great to see him in such high spirits. dg”

The Hammers said on 30th November the 26-year-old would be missing for eight weeks because of a thigh injury, meaning he would not return until mid-February.

David Sullivan speaking on Talksport this morning is more cautious giving an estimate of six to eight weeks for a full return to action.

Slaven Bilic has told reporters today that he expects the player to be fit and ready for selection by mid March.

The striker, who joined the Hammers in 2014 from French club Metz, had only returned from a back injury in the defeat at Spurs on 19th November last year.

West Brom were keen to sign Sakho for £15m last Summer  but the deal was called off because of ongoing back problem.
