Robbie Savage may not be everybody’s cup of tea but his latest predictions will certainly cheer the Hammers fans worrying about the new season after some average displays in the build-up to our campaign.

The Daily Mirror columnist pops up here, there and everywhere over the  course of the  season and he hasn’t always been flattering in his thoughts on the Irons.

This time, however, he reckons the worst is behind manager Slaven Bilic as he gets set for the big kick off next Sunday at Old Trafford.

The former Manchester United youth player insists that the club are set for a more than reasonable season declaring: ” Much as the Hammers recruitment last summer was poor, they have pulled off two of the best deals of this window by bringing in England keeper Joe Hart and Javier Hernandez,”

He adds: “And after the teething troubles of moving into their new home last season, the worst may be over for Slaven Bilic. I fancy them to inhabit the top half. Verdict: Bubbles flying high 8th.”
