Shock/horror Hammers stories wrong AGAIN

West Ham – once again caught at the centre of shock/ horror stories by certain newspapers we don’t need to name – will pay nothing like the £15 million figure being quoted should they sack Manuel Pellegrini.

As we explained on CandH yesterday – and now confirmed in the London Evening Standard today – the Chilean signed a three-year contract which is based on a 12 month rolling deal

As a result the maximum the Hammers  would pay out in the event would be around £7m in compensation should they wish to make a change in the next few weeks.

Pay-offs to Pellegrini’s staff, including director of football Mario Husillos, would take the total above £10m, but such an event is simply not on.

West Ham spent £100m on nine new players this summer and a Standard source is quoted as saying:  “The manager has bought a team. He has to make it work. You can’t dump the manager and buy a new team in January.”
