West Ham captain Mark Noble believes manager Manuel Pellegrini will be at the club for many years

Speaking to BBC Radio Five on Friday Nobes told listeners:“The manager’s personality is so calm. There are no antics with him. You don’t hear anything. He doesn’t want the limelight and he doesn’t do many interviews but he works with us every day on how to improve. The fans have taken to him and the mentality of the club is changing slowly.

“I really do thing he will be here for years.”

The manager signed a three-year contract with the Hammers said to be worth up to £8m per year in May 2019 so that deal will reach the halfway point in November this year.

With a good start to his second season, it will interesting to discover at what point the board will open negotiations for a possible contract extension beyond 2021.

The most obvious point to extend the Chilean’s contract will be next summer when the outcome of his second season in charge is known.

The manager turned 66 last week and will be approaching 68 years of age when his West Ham contract is due to expire.

In our view Noble has given a prediction that will have the vast majority clapping their hands. He makes it clear that Pellegrini’s approach behind the scenes is the same as we see publicly.

And the man’s calm attitude towards everything has obviously been a key factor in seeing the club steadied and stabilised in such a short period.

From such a base he can really push on given the continuing support of the board who made a great appointment when bringing him back to the Premier League from China.
