The chances of a West Ham United v Slavia Prague charity match for Isla Caton are very difficult Claret and Hugh have learnt this morning.

Czech ambassador to the UK Libor Sečka is running a poll on social to which 6,500 has responded to gauge support for the idea.

Neatly 97% say yes but the financial barriers make the idea unlikely to become a reality.

West Ham would be charged £280,000 to open the London Stadium for a friendly charity match by the stadium owners and expenses to fly the Slavia Prague team over and put them up in a hotel could cost another £100,000.

There is also some debate about what capacity will be allowed at the London Stadium pre-season which would be another factor on ticket sales.

Hosting the game in the Czech Republic could also be problematic as COVID levels at very high in the country at the moment together with the scheduling nightmare of fitting in an extra pre-season game that fits both West Ham and Slavia Prague pre-existing pre-season commitments.
