Steve Bruce is this morning reported as to be keeping a close eye on Robert Snodgrass’ position at West Ham and would like to take him back to the midlands if possible.
The report comes from local media sources who – as mentioned in previous reports – are worth listening to given their local knowledge and daily contact with managers.
The report comes from Birmingham Live and can probably be treated seriously given that the Scot had an outstanding loan spell at Villa last season.
Manuel Pellegrini has had an extended look at the player and it will be interesting to see the Hammers reaction to a move should Bruce come in this week ahead of the Championship kick off.
The player seems keen to take his chance with us if given it and the Hammers – should Pelle decide he can leave – will be looking for a permanent deal rather than another loan.
Snoddy – on his return to the Irons – said: “All I want to try and do get minutes under my belt and try and play and show the West Ham fans what I can do.
“First season it was a bit stop-start. I started maybe seven or eight games or something like that. It’s not enough time to show what you can do.
“I showed the Aston Villa fans what I could in large spells of the season and obviously had a great relationship with them.
“So if I can do that with West Ham and get a chance hopefully I can build that relationship with them too.”
