Some serious explaining needed after Irons Cup chaos

Calamity doesn’t begin to describe the Oxford defeat

All the warning signs were out there and most of them it seems were ignored!

But 4-0? I mean, really how on earth do you get your head around that despite Oxford having scored six in their last game and 19 in total.

A TV blackout and the absence of any audio saved us from having to watch what was clearly an absolute shambles of a performance from a team whom we had though may be learning to put such situations behind them.

But watching the brief moments available on YouTube Hammers supporters will only be left shaking their heads in abject misery and despair – we looked awful for all four goals, failing to learn lesson after lesson from a team more than up for it.

That there should be no TV or radio commentary is pretty ridiculous in itself – truly a return to the dark ages and seriously bad news for the sponsors Carabao ….somebody somewhere really needs to get their act/s together.

You can only come to one conclusion, that you either take the competition seriously or don’t bother with it at all but from a club and manager desperate for a trophy after all these years some explaining needs to be done.

The competition has thrown up shock results over and over again. So far this  round we have seen ourselves, Bournemouth and of course Spurs beaten but it’s of no comfort.

Wholesale change for the match was disrespectful of Oxford and we paid a heavy price just as we have over the last three years.

Defeats like these are becoming an annual event and it has to stop. You simply can’t go from getting top Premier League results  to the pits without there being something very wrong in the group’s mentality.

It’s a serious problem and the wicked irony is that two teams with something MAJOR to prove to their fans – ourselves and Bournemouth clash at the weekend.

Victory will probably see last night put behind us – defeat will see all the old fears and anxieties raising their heads again.

Fortune may not be hiding but it has certainly disappeared behind a self imposed cloud for now.
