David Moyes is understood to have turned down the chance of making a £25 million bid for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

As is usually the case before things heat up in July and August, agents make approaches to clubs over players that may become available and suit their requirements.

And a source close to the player told us that we are among the clubs  — which include Spurs and Liverpool – to have been approached.

But we understand the opportunity was turned down who is understood to have his eyes firmly on James Ward Prowse at Southampton.

Both players are highly regarded and the Ivory Coast international is out of contract at the Seagulls in a year’s time and a price of £25 million is believed to have been made at the time the Irons were approached.

With Tomas Soucek’s West Ham future very much on ice at the moment, Mark Noble retired and Andriy Yarmolenk gone, the manager is keen to reinforce the midfield.

Ward-Prowse is said to be his priority but the player is under contract until 2026 .
